Eddie Lacy has been the star running back for the Green Bay Packers since being selected in the second round of the 2013 NFL draft.
Taken with the 61st overall pick, Lacy was the fourth running back off the board behind only Giovani Bernard (37), Le’Veon Bell (48), and Montee Ball (58).
The fifth running back selected in the 2013 draft also happened to be just one pick after Lacy’s name was called. With the 62nd pick, the Seattle Seahawks selected none other than Lacy’s newest teammate, Christine Michael.
While Lacy rolled through college, earning three BCS National Championships at Alabama over his collegiate career, Michael was finding his own success with Texas A&M.
Though the Aggies didn’t quite garner than same level of media attention as Lacy’s indestructible Tide team, Michael was a workhorse, carving out name for himself as one of the top running backs in the nation alongside Lacy.
It took some time for Michael to find success at the NFL level – playing behind one of the greatest running backs in the league, Marshawn Lynch, can do that to a guy – while Lacy hit the ground running in Green bay alongside Aaron Rodgers.
2016 offered Michael some opportunity after Lynch suffered an injury and decided to call it a career. Michael has broken out for a few spectacular games, showing flashes of what made him a second round pick back in 2013.Now, “that guy picked right after Lacy” is now his teammate. Once again, Michael will have an excellent opportunity to take the field while learning the ropes from a great running back like Lacy who can help guide him through a new system to find success.
